STAR WARS eeeeee

OMG. OMG. I saw it tonight! I convinced one of my friends to go with me to a midnight showing and I SAW STAR WARS EPISODE III OMG IT WAS SO AMAZING.

::runs around the room squeeing in uncontrollable fangirlish delight::

I missed the episode of Lost today, which annoyed me. But then I watched Sin City, finally, and then I saw Ep III and MY GOD, EPISODE THREE IS SO MUCH BETTER.

It is a visual and technological marvel to behold. The pacing is fast, relentless, and excellent. The battles are epic. Ian McDiarmid and Ewan McGregor put on incredible performances. The plot twists and turns and leaves you horrified and terrified and just. SO GOOD.

I would continue, but that would venture into spoiler territory. Plus, my brain still is not processing what just happened in the last 2 1/3 hours of my life. Even if you hate the last two movies (and well you should), you should see Ep III. Not because I say so, not just because it's the end of the Star Wars movies, but because it's a damn good movie. And the cinema-lovin' movie critic in me says that, not just the Star Wars geek that went to a midnight showing opening day.

If anyone wants to talk with me about it? I am so available. AIM, comments, morse code.

The Day of Silence, a project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in collaboration with the United States Student Association (USSA), is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies.

The Day of Silence takes place April 13, 2005

On a slightly more disturbing note: Day of Truth
The Day of Truth was inspired partly by Chase Harper, a San Diego-area high school student who opposed students in his school participating in the Day of Silence. Last year he was suspended after wearing a homemade T-shirt that read on the front, "Be Ashamed" and "Our School Embraced What God Has Condemned," and on the back read, "Homosexuality is Shameful" and "Romans 1:27."

Full article here.

The Day of Truth was established to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda and expresses an opposing viewpoint from a Christian perspective.

It is important that students stand up for their First Amendment right to hear and speak the Truth about human sexuality in order to protect that freedom for future generations.

Chocolate, Star Wars Style

M&M's have gone to the "dark side." For the first time in the company's 64-year history, M&M's Brand Candies is introducing a dark chocolate version of its famous candy — and just in time for the release of "Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith," the sixth and final episode of the Star Wars saga.

Both the new dark and old milk chocolate M&M's feature special "Star Wars"-themed colors and packaging depicting the M&M's "spokescandies" in various movie scenarios.

'Darth mix' colors
As for the M&M's themselves, the special edition "Darth Mix" features the following new colors: black, maroon, purple, dark blue and silver. The classic milk chocolate flavor is found in the "Jedi Mix" with its new colors: beige, cream, pastel green, gold and "light-saber blue" M&M's.

As if the candies are not enough, consumers can collect 72 Star Wars/M&M's-themed packages in plain and peanut varieties that feature exclusive under-the-wrapper Star Wars and M&M's trivia.

Dark chocolate M&M's will be on shelves and in select theaters nationwide April 2 and available for a limited time — so as not to "Force" them on you.

One X-wing Fighter spacecraft, two droids, a host of storm troopers and Darth Vader with his M&M's counterpart "M-Vader," gathered in New York's Times Square Tuesday to unveil the dark chocolate M&M's.

http://kotorfanmedia.com/forums/ is up and it's super-nifty! I'm not just saying that because I'm a moderator or site supporter, either ;)

This might be a terrible thing for me to admit as a moderator, but I honestly have read all of two actual KOTOR fanfics in all of my time in the fandom; I mostly just look over the art and move on. I know! So shameful.

I also really like the idea of the Duelling Circle. Challenges are fun and fulfill my desire for attention ego-stroking new ideas. Maybe I'll actually partake in one of these challenges as a show of support for the site and, y'know, to stretch my KOTOR writing chops.

Hah. Who am I kidding? I've been threatening to unleash my evil army of writing onto the KOTOR world for years now. The odds of actually living up to one of my weak threats false promises are remote, at best. We'll see, though. If I'm not massively busy managing stuff for the other fandoms I'm neglecting in.

"I describe it as a 'Titanic' in space. It's a real tearjerker, and it will be received in a way that none of us can expect" - George Lucas

::twitches:: I must have a masochistic streak in me a mile wide to continue following Star Wars things when I know it will only bring me PAIN AND MISERY. DAMN YOU, GEORGE LUCAS, FOR CURDLING MY SOUL.

Titanic in space. The mind boggles. And then it flees in terror.

Article from Scifi Wire:
Lucas: Star Wars Due In 3-D

George Lucas told ShoWest that he is planning to remaster all of the Star Wars films for rerelease in 3-D as a way to promote the technology, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Appearing as part of a panel of high-profile directors promoting 3-D and digital cinema at ShoWest, Lucas said he hadn't yet committed to a precise schedule, but hoped to have the first film ready for the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie in 2007 and that he would then rerelease one Star Wars film per year in 3-D, the trade paper reported.

Lucas was joined by James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis, Robert Rodriguez and Randal Kleiser. Peter Jackson joined the group via a pretaped 3-D segment. They all implored theater owners to invest in digital projectors, which would allow theaters to show their upcoming movies in 3-D.

Cameron is in preproduction on the 3-D film Battle Angel, planned for a 2007 release. Zemeckis has two 3-D features in production, and Rodriguez is readying The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D for release in the summer, the trade paper reported.

The sad thing? I do own a digital projector. And I probably will end up buying (okay, maybe renting--no, who am I kidding, buying) the 3D version of the Original Trilogy. Why? Because my soul has been curdled and is useless to me now. I will continue to subject myself to untold torture for the sake for Star Wars.

I have a scarier thought:

Lucas is, just as he claims, finally getting to make the movies he ALWAYS WANTED to make. . He wasn't satisfied with Star Wars - he was stuck with limits of technology and acting and budget, so even though it was resoundingly considered great, Lucas has always felt it could be BETTER if he could just get it the way he wanted it in his head. Now he's got money and Phenomenal Cosmic Power over the new ones, and he's able to make the movies he wishes the original three were.

You know, like how "Saturn Devouring His Children" would be even more awesome if Goya had been able to add an animated 3D hologram to it, and show the mad chewing-and-pooping action that you know has gotta follow that.

I love it. Reference to Goya? Amazing. And so appropriate.
